I am a Sámi duojár, fashion designer and a storyteller based in Anár/Inari, Finnish side of Sápmi.
I make duodji, traditional Sámi handicrafts but also modern designs that are rooted in duodji. I combine the traditional knowledge with contemporary fashion.
With my haute couture garments I tell stories about our people and explore themes that are relevant to our communities.
I express the narratives of my designs through performance art, and I have collaborated with several Sámi artists. My work has been purchased by the KIN museum for contemporary art in Kiruna, Sweden.
I hold a MA in Sámi Culture from University of Oulu, Finland. I have also studied traditional Sámi textile and leather duodji in Samernas utbildningscentrum in Jåhkåmåhkke, Sweden and fashion industry and dressmaking in Educational Consortium OSAO, Finland.
