Through this small fashion collection, I explore gender norms within Sámi communities. My starting point is an exploration of how traditional duodji can reinforce or expand our understanding of gender roles. In my practice, I bring details of duodji from Eanodat region into focus, reflecting on what Sápmi might look like without macho culture and how patriarchal power structures shape the community. Yet, my message is gentle: You are medicine and You already carry what you need.

These works were originally created for the Earálágan/Ovttalágan project, funded by the European Youth Capital. Both works will be exhibited in the Logi / Lågev / Lååi / Love exhibition in Tromsø in 27.11.-13.12.2026 at the Kurant Visningsrom.

DON’T BE SILENT

This statement piece was originally made for the Pride event. With this piece, I stand with the Sámi LGBTQ+ community. As a duojár, I want to be there creating a safe atmosphere for everyone in Sápmi, so that all can feel seen, heard, respected, and welcome.
